The battle never ends. One side argues for giving employees cash. The other side argues for non-cash awards.
The truth is there is a place for both in every recognition program. Cash is sometimes the most appropritate form of recognition. However, cash doesn't symbolize an event the same way an award symbolizes an event. Studies say that cash is typically used to pay bills. And employees have a hard time remembering what they actually used the cash for!
