Custom Award: A Solid Foundation

BACKGROUND
A private university wanted to recognize an elite group of alumni who gave substantial donations to the institution during the preceding year. The university wanted an award that symbolized a solid foundation since the donations that these few individuals made strengthened the financial stability of the organization. The university also wanted to ensure that the award emulate the university logo, a silver flame.

DESIGN PROCESS
The Director of Alumni Relations contacted his local promotional products distributor who in turn contacted the designers at Crystal D to discuss this project.

The distributor discussed the background information regarding the project, including theme, timeline and quantity. The Crystal D designer used this information to create a project timeline and to get started on a concept sketch.
The concept sketch featured a substantial three-tier base designed to represent the financial foundation that the donors provided the university. The accents and base were made of brushed aluminum to further emulate the university logo.

A color rendering was produced for the Director of Alumni Relations to review. After a few minor changes were made to the rendering, Crystal D produced a spec sample.
