For some employers it is difficult to believe that employees are not motivated by cash. When in fact, according to the “1994 National Study of the Changing Workforce,” conducted by the Families and Work Institute in New York City, “open communication” was ranked highest by respondents asked to list items they had considered to be “very important” in choosing their current jobs. Salary was ranked 16th.
