A safety program that no one cares about is destined to fail. Below are three tips that will help your safety program remain effective.

• Consistency - Consistently recognize the efforts and achievement of your staff members. Inconsistency dilutes the effectiveness of the program. Make recognition part of weekly and monthly staff meetings.
• Communication - Employees need to know exactly what is expected of them and how they can earn rewards. Clearly explain the goal, objectives, and rewards to your workforce.
• Support - Make sure that upper management supports the safety program prior to implementation. Employees will be more receptive and buy-in when then know that the leaders of the organization value safety.
