2017 Passion Value Champion: Zito

Hello readers! Are you ready to meet our 2017 Passion Value Champion? At Crystal D, it’s important for us to recognize the employees who live out our core values. At WOW Day back in January, we recognized a new set of Value Champions (VCs).

Our Value Champions are people who have been nominated by their peers and selected by managers as a person who lives out one of our five core values: integrity, quality, respect, commitment, and passion. Our VCs receive a lot of fantastic perks throughout the year including:

  • A shiny crystal award
  • Their name and picture on the Wall of Champions
  • A reserved parking spot right in front of the building
  • An afternoon of fun in the sun on a VC boat outing with Chuck
  • Eight different meals from Let’s Dish!
  • $100 and an afternoon off in December to go holiday shopping
  • Re-recognized with a certificate that’s framed and presented to them at the end of the year
  • Meetings with managers over breakfast to discuss how Crystal D can improve
  • Planning company events and community outreach

Now that’s a lot of great stuff!

I got a chance to talk with our newest Passion Value Champion, Zito. We talked about how it felt winning this award and what it’s been like as a VC since January.

Mike "Zito" Vitali and Chuck Dahlgren

Alexis: Congratulations! How did you feel when your name was announced as the winner? Did you think you were going to be the winner?

Zito: I had NO idea I was going to win! I was so happy and proud to be the Passion Value Champion AGAIN since I had won it before in 2007.

Alexis: How did you feel when you were on stage and during the presentation of your award?

Zito: Chuck talked about how sincere I am when it comes to Crystal D and about the passion I have in my heart. It’s so true. I try to live out the core values every day at work and outside of work, so I was so glad to be recognized for that by everyone. I’m so happy to be in a work environment where I can teach so many positive ways to live.

Alexis: Has anything been different for you since you won your award?

Zito: I just keep doing what I do best. I do the best I can for our company and for our customers!

Alexis: What are you looking forward to most now that you are a VC?

Zito: I’m most looking forward to living out our values with a great team. The boat outing with Chuck and going to Let’s Dish! are really cool too.

Alexis: On a scale of 1-5 with 1 being “terrible” and 5 being “totally awesome,” how great is it to have a reserved parking spot?

Zito: Totally awesome! 5!

Alexis: Now time for some fun, random questions. What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself?

Zito: I sat on a beehive when I was ten years old. There were A LOT of stings, and I was pretty sore!

Alexis: What’s your favorite movie quote?

Zito: I don’t really have a favorite quote, but I love Limitless, anything with Mark Wahlberg, and Elf.

Alexis: Is a hot dog a sandwich? Why or why not?

Zito: Yes, it is. I think anything between sliced bread with meat on it is a sandwich.

Alexis: Which celebrity chef would you most like to make you dinner? What would they make you?

Zito: I would like to try Guy Fieri’s best homemade pizza!

Alexis: How often do you lose your keys?

Zito: Only two times in my entire life!

Alexis: Would you rather give up your phone for 30 days or dessert forever?

Zito: I could live without my phone for 30 days, but I couldn’t live without cake on my birthday!

Alexis: Last question. What three things would you bring to a deserted island? “A way to get off the island” is not an option!

Zito: Flint for fire, a knife, and my friends!

Zito

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions and letting us get to know you, Zito! Congrats again on becoming the 2017 Passion Value Champion!

If you want to congratulate Zito, leave him some love in the comments!

Not a surprise to me because I got to see Zito at work along with my Client from Hormel Foods Bob Christiansen. But glad he got the recognition he deserves!
